Use:
1) actions happening at the moment of speaking
Peter is reading a book now.
2) fixed plan in the near future
She is going to Basel on Saturday.
3) temporary actions
His father is working in Rome this month.
4) actions happening around the moment of speaking (longer actions)
My friend is preparing for his exams.
Grammar structure:
Affirmative sentences:
Personal Pronoun + to be (am, are, is) + verb -ing + complement
I am playing soccer.
He is reading.
They are singing.
I am playing soccer.
He is reading.
They are singing.
Negative sentences:
Per. Pron. + to be (am,are, is) + not + verb -ing + complementati
I am not playing soccer.He isn't reading.
They aren't singing.
Questions and Short Answers:
To be (am, are, is) + Per. Pron. + verb -ing + complement?
Are you playing soccer? Yes, I am / No, I am not
Is He reading? Yes, He is / No, He isn't
Are they singing? Yes, They are / No, They aren't
